New Students

Thank you for your interest in Irish dance!

Students can choose to dance for  fitness, to perform, to compete, or just for fun!

New dancers who are between the ages of 3-5 enter Irish dance through our Preschool Class. These lessons cover development of spatial awareness through creative movement, identification of Irish musical rhythm and counting, and the basics of how to move like an Irish dancer.

It is beneficial for students at this age to have a parent or guardian join them during class. This helps students to focus on the material presented and helps parents to connect at-home practice with classroom learning.

New dancers who are at least 6 years old may enter our Irish dance program through the New Beginner Class. In this class, dancers will learn the Irish dance basics needed to begin learning choreography.

Students progress through this introductory class at different rates and will move into Level 1 (Bun Grad) as soon as their New Beginner skills can be danced to music, up-to-speed.

Dancers who have prior Irish dance experience should contact Holly directly, at 717-825-5461.  Usually these dancers take a few private lessons and then enter the level that best matches their current level of dance.

NEW STUDENT FAQs

When can I enroll?

Students may enroll in the New Beginner Class throughout the year and do not need to wait until the beginning of the Fall, Spring, or Summer Sessions. Preschool students may begin at the beginning of either Fall or Spring Sessions.

What should I wear to class?

Anything that is light-weight and comfortable!  The teacher should be able to view a dancer's ankle and knee placement, so shorts or leggings are a great choice.  Keep cool and minimize distractions by having medium to long hair held back in a ponytail.  For  details, check out our Dress Code.

What can I bring to class?

Stay hydrated by bringing a water bottle into the classroom. Water fountains are available in the hallway to use during drink breaks. Food and any other type of drink is not permitted in the studio.

What if I have additional questions?

Please feel free to text Holly at 717-825-5461.

Thank you for your interest!
We look forward to seeing you soon!
